Farmstead “U Melanii” is located in the center of the city of Tatarbunary. The author of the project and performer – Vremya Melanya Petrovna – a woman of tireless energy and eternal search. Four years ago, was born an idea to join the “green tourism”. The basis of the legend was the stories of parents, old-timers of the city, materials from the local museum.
The house in which the estate “U Melanii” is founded has its own history. It was there that in 1807 the residence of the Cossack Ataman of the Danube Sich was located during the quartering of the Cossack troops in Tatarbunary. Later, during the years of Soviet rule, after the closure of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Convent in the village of Borisovka, nuns moved here. From here they went to eternity…
It was a difficult new case for Melaniya Petrovna. To convince and attract the first visitors was not easy. But seeing happy faces and hearing enthusiastic reviews turned out to be the strongest stimulus. Gradually improving the program of work with clients. Friends help: a living legend picks up an accordion, Pavlov Alexander Semyonovich, an honorary citizen of the city, and an experienced cultural education worker, Dudnichenko Lyubov Alexandrovna, helps to develop the script. The manor is listed in the tourist directory of the Odessa region. The collection of historical artifacts is constantly updated, a team of staff from local youth is selected. The project is not without prospects and clearly evolving. The meeting program is rather eventful: guests are greeted with bread and salt at the entrance, then a guided tour of the estate, historical stories about the Tatarbunary region. Afterwards – a delicious lunch consisting of a main dish – hominy with cracklings, flavoring, salads, and of course Bessarabian wine. During lunch, guests enjoy different table games, fun ethnical songs and dances. And in the end – the anthem Tatarbunar is surely performed.
